Our focus is on preventive dentistry and timely check-ups. We aim to detect cavities and orthodontic problems while they're still minor. Preventive and early treatment are the most effective measures to keep down the cost and complications of dental health care. We encourage you to schedule your child's next 6-month check-up at the end of your office visit. This ensures that routine examinations occur on a timely basis with the emphasis on prevention. Kids' dentistry can be fun in our office!
We will mail you a reminder of your child's upcoming check-up appointment a few weeks before that appointment is due. At the time of your child's check-up visit, please inform our receptionist of any changes in your address, phone number, or insurance coverage and the hygienist or assistant about any changes in medical history.
About the Initial Visit
You and your child will be introduced to our well trained child friendly staff as well as being made comfortable in our office. After reviewing your child's medical history and your concerns, we will perform a comprehensive oral examination. Depending on cooperation, we will then perform a dental cleaning and apply a topical fluoride varnish. All findings will be discussed with the parent (and also the patient when that is appropriate) and recommendations made for treatment, follow-up and home care.
Note: At the initial visit and at all subsequent check-up visits a pediatric dentist will perform a comprehensive examination for dental disease, orthodontic problems, oral pathology and will record and monitor your child's facial growth and development.

Infection Control
The offices of Drs. Merle, Zicherman & Associates are OSHA, EPA & CDC compliant, and follow the same sterilization recommendations for hospitals. Strict adherence to infection control and universal precautions protect patients, doctors and staff alike.

- Autoclave sterilization of all equipment, including handpieces before every use

Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays are currently available in our Lynn Office. They are more comfortable and patient friendly with a decreased chance of causing a gag reflex. ScanX radiographs yield high resolution, detail-rich images that are immediately observable on our computer monitors.
